The cluster sits in the Orobie Alps, in the upper Seriana valley, with steep forested slopes and high limestone and alpine ridges close around the town. The Serio river runs through the valley. The Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche lies within this area. The nearest ski lifts are around Valcanale above Ardesio and at Spiazzi di Gromo, both a short drive away, with larger lift systems farther up the Bergamo valleys. The nearest larger town is Clusone, which has a substantial historic centre and everyday services; Bergamo is the main city for higher-level services and transport. This part of the Bergamo mountains is known for alpine valleys, hiking, pasture landscapes and winter sports on a local scale.
