The cluster is in the central Sardinian uplands of the Gerrei, with the higher mass of the Gennargentu visible farther north but outside the immediate area. The Flumendosa valley is the main landscape feature within reach, with steep wooded slopes, gorges and reservoir shores around the upper course of the river. Part of the area falls within the Parco Geominerario Storico e Ambientale della Sardegna. Sadali, the nearest small centre of note, has a historic village core and the waterfall and karst spring of Su Stampu de su Turrunu. The area is known for inland Sardinian mountain villages, forests and old mining and pastoral landscapes.
