The cluster lies on the Campidano-to-Sarrabus side of the low hills east of Cagliari, with the Seven Brothers massif (Sette Fratelli) within about 15 km inland. The coast around Geremeas, Baccu Mandara and Solanas is within about 15 km, with long sandy beaches and rocky headlands on the Gulf of Cagliari. Much of the inland area falls within the Parco dei Sette Fratelli–Monte Genis. The nearest city of size is Cagliari, which has the port, airport, major services and the historic districts of Castello, Marina and Stampace. The area is known for beach resorts on the Quartu-Maracalagonis coast and for the wooded granite hills of the Sette Fratelli.
