The cluster sits in the central Apennine foothills of eastern Lazio. The Salto river valley and the artificial reservoir Lago del Salto lie within about 15 km and supply a large inland lake used locally for fishing and boating. Terrain in the 15 km radius is a mix of wooded hills, small agricultural valleys and streams feeding the Salto. There are no ski lifts inside 15 km; nearest alpine-style ski areas (Campo Felice / Piana di Navelli) are appreciably farther by car. The nearest city of size is Rieti (provincial capital) at roughly 35–45 km, which provides regional services, shops and a railway connection; L'Aquila is further to the northeast. There is no national-park or UNESCO designation centred inside the 15 km radius. The area’s economy is rural: small-scale farming, forestry and reservoir-related recreation are the main local uses of the landscape.
