The cluster is in the inland hills of the Sarcidano area, with the low relief of the central-eastern Sardinian uplands around it. Lago Mulargia lies nearby, formed by the Flumendosa system, and the upper Flumendosa valley is part of the local landscape. The area is known for the Nuragic site of Nuraghe Arrubiu just outside Orroli, one of the main prehistoric complexes in inland Sardinia. Isili is the nearest town of some size, with everyday services and rail connections on the Mandas–Arbatax line. This part of inland south-central Sardinia is known for pastoral landscapes, reservoirs and Nuragic archaeology.
