The Sibillini Mountains surround the area, with Monte Vettore and the high ridge of the central Apennines within this radius. The upper Aso valley and the mountain basin around Montemonaco are inside the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini. Lago di Gerosa lies nearby in the same mountain system. The nearest ski area is Monte Prata on the Castelluccio side of the Sibillini, roughly an hour by road depending on conditions. Amandola is the nearest small town of note with everyday services; Ascoli Piceno is the main historic city for the wider area, farther away outside the local radius.
