Trulli in campagna

This area lies in the inland part of the Monopoli countryside on the Murge plateau, with a karst landscape of low limestone rises, dry-stone walls, olive groves and scattered contrade. The Adriatic coast of Monopoli is nearby, with a long built and cultivated coastal strip rather than a cliff landscape at this point. The closest larger town is Monopoli, which has a port, a walled historic centre and full everyday services. Alberobello is within about 15 km and is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its trulli. This part of south-east Bari province is known for trulli, masserie and olive cultivation.
