Stabile a Mazzarino

This is inland central-southern Sicily, with low rolling hills, cereal fields, pasture and scattered olive groves. The area sits in the Gela plain hinterland rather than on the coast itself, and no major mountain range, lake or protected park lies within about 15 km. Mazzarino has a substantial historic centre and the ruins of the Castello di Mazzarino above the town. The nearest larger centre with broader services is Gela on the coast, which has a hospital, rail station and a fuller range of shops and administration. This part of Sicily is known for arable farming and olive production.
