This is on the Domitian coast at the mouth of the Volturno River, with long sandy shoreline and low pinewoods around the coastal plain. The area includes the Riserva naturale Foce Volturno-Costa di Licola, a protected stretch of dunes, river mouth and coastal woodland. Lago Patria lies just to the south within the same coastal belt. The nearest large city is Naples, which provides the main rail, airport, port and higher-order services for the area. This part of the coast is known for beach resorts, pine forest, reclaimed lowland and the Volturno river mouth.
