The cluster is on the Ionian coast at Riposto, with the sea and the port immediately by the town. Mount Etna rises inland within this radius, and the lower eastern slopes of the volcano shape the whole area. The Parco dell'Etna begins inland on the mountain above the coastal strip. The nearest ski lifts are on Etna around Piano Provenzana, roughly an hour's drive depending on road conditions. Giarre is the nearest larger town, with everyday services and rail links on the Catania–Messina line. Taormina and the Alcantara valley are farther north and are day-trip territory rather than part of the immediate landscape. The area is known for Etna vineyards and citrus cultivation on the eastern volcanic slopes.
