The cluster is in the lower foothills between the Tyrrhenian coast and the inland Calabrian ranges, with cultivated hills and short river valleys descending toward the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia. The Tyrrhenian coast at the gulf is within the local area, with long sandy shoreline around Gizzeria and Falerna rather than a rocky or highly indented coast. The nearest town of size is Lamezia Terme, which has the area’s main rail junction, motorway access and airport. This part of Calabria is known for citrus, olive groves and the coastal plain around Lamezia.
