The cluster sits on the Tyrrhenian side of the Catanzaro province in the lower foothills of the southern Apennines, with short drives down to the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia coast. The Savuto river valley is nearby to the north, and this stretch inland from the gulf is a mix of wooded slopes, olive groves and small hill settlements rather than a single named landscape of national profile. The nearest larger centre is Lamezia Terme, which has the main rail junction, motorway access and the airport for this side of Calabria. This part of Calabria is known for hill villages above the Tyrrhenian and for olive oil and mixed small-scale agriculture.
