The cluster is on the south coast of Sicily by the Mediterranean and at the mouth of the Salso river. The shoreline around Licata mixes beaches with low rocky stretches and the port area. Inland within this radius the land is mostly low rolling countryside with farmed fields and scattered olive groves. Licata is the nearest town of size, with a working harbour, services and a historic centre with Liberty-era buildings and hilltop Sant'Angelo overlooking the town. The area is known for fishing and agriculture.
