The nearest coast for daily life is the Ionian shore around Soverato, but it is outside the immediate 15 km landscape. The nearest larger town is Soverato on the coast, with the main concentration of shops, services and rail connections for the area. This part of the Serre is known for forests, chestnut and beech woodland, and small upland villages tied historically to timber and craft activity.
