The cluster is in the Sila foothills on the inland side of the Presila Catanzarese. The Tacina valley is part of the local landscape, with mixed woodland and cultivated slopes around the hill settlements. Sila National Park lies nearby on the plateau to the north, but the stronger mountain scenery is outside the immediate 15 km radius. The nearest town of size is Catanzaro, which provides the main services, hospital, schools and rail connections for this part of the province. This area is known for chestnut and woodland country on the transition between the Sila uplands and the Ionian side of Calabria.
