The Corace valley is nearby, and the lower hills around the town are a mix of olive groves, woodland and cultivated slopes rather than a single protected landscape. Catanzaro is the nearest city of size, with the province’s main services, shops and hospital. The area is known in Calabria for the narrowest part of the peninsula and for broad views across both coasts from the higher ground around the town.
