The cluster sits on the Ionian-side hills between the Sila foothills and the Gulf of Squillace. The Corace valley is part of the local landscape, and the coast around Catanzaro Lido and the gulf is about 15 km away. The Sila Piccola lies inland to the northwest, but the main forest and plateau scenery is beyond the immediate 15 km radius. Catanzaro is the nearest city of size, with services, shops, rail links and the university area at Germaneto. This part of Calabria is known for olive groves, mixed farmland and Arbëreshë communities; Caraffa di Catanzaro is one of the Arbëreshë settlements of the province.
