The Pescara River runs nearby at the foot of the Chieti hill. Chieti is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre on a ridge, Roman remains including a theatre, museums and the usual full set of services. The Maiella National Park is farther inland and does not fall inside the immediate area.
