The cluster is in the hills around Chieti, between the Maiella massif to the southwest and the Adriatic lowlands to the east. The Pescara river valley is nearby and shapes the built-up corridor toward the coast. The Maiella National Park begins within this wider inland area, with the mountain block clearly present in the local landscape, though the main high-altitude scenery is farther inland. Chieti is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre, cathedral, Roman remains, museums, and the main services for the area. This part of Abruzzo is known for olive groves, vineyards, and hill farming on ridges facing both the mountains and the sea.
