The area sits in the inland hills between the lower Trigno valley and the Sangro-Trigno uplands, with a landscape of cultivated ridges, small woods and scattered villages. The Trigno river valley is nearby to the south. The Adriatic coast around San Salvo and Vasto is reachable for daily services and beaches, but it is outside the immediate landscape and does not raise the score. The nearest larger town is Vasto, which has a full range of shops, hospitals and rail connections. This part of southern Chieti is known for olive groves, mixed farming and small hilltop settlements.
