The area sits on the lower hills between the Adriatic coast and the inland Abruzzo uplands. The Sangro river valley is nearby, and the Costa dei Trabocchi on the Adriatic is about 10–15 km away, with trabocchi fishing structures and a cycle route along parts of the former railway line. The nearest larger centre is Chieti, while Lanciano itself has a substantial historic centre and is known for the Eucharistic Miracle shrine and for the Fiera di Sant’Egidio. The Maiella massif is visible farther inland but lies beyond the immediate 15 km landscape.
