The Maiella National Park begins a short distance inland and is the main protected landscape affecting this area. The nearest ski lifts are on the Passolanciano-Majelletta side of the Maiella, roughly an hour by road. The nearest larger town is Lanciano, which has a substantial historic centre, services, and rail links toward the coast.
