Casa in montagna a Pizzoferrato (CH)

The area sits in the high Sangro-Aventino Apennines, with the Monti Pizzi immediately around the village and the Majella massif within the local horizon. The Sangro river basin is the main valley system in this part of the province. The eastern edge of Majella National Park is nearby, with the Gamberale and Pizzoferrato uplands forming part of the mountain belt around it. The nearest ski lifts are the small lifts at Gamberale, a short drive away, while Roccaraso-Aremogna is much farther and does not define the immediate landscape. The nearest town of some size is Castel di Sangro, which provides the main services, shops and rail connection for this mountain area. The area is known for high-altitude pasture, beech woods and transhumance country typical of inland Abruzzo.
