This is low hill country between the Foro and Moro valleys, with vineyards and olive groves typical of the inland Chieti area. The Adriatic coast around Francavilla al Mare and Ortona is within about 15 km in a straight line, but Ari itself sits inland on ridges rather than on the shore. The nearest substantial town is Chieti, which has a historic centre, services and university functions; Pescara is the main city of the area for rail, airport and retail, but it lies beyond the immediate landscape.
