The area sits on the Frentani hills between the Sangro valley and the Adriatic side of Abruzzo. The Sangro river valley is nearby. Majella is the nearest mountain massif, visible from this part of the province, with the slopes of Maiella National Park within roughly this radius to the west. The nearest town of size is Lanciano, which has a substantial historic centre, services and the Sanctuary of the Miracolo Eucaristico. This part of Abruzzo is known for olive groves, vineyards and, in Castel Frentano itself, bocconotto pastries.
