The cluster is on the Triangolo Lariano in the mountains above the western branch of Lake Como. Lake Como lies within a few kilometres, with the nearest shore at Nesso on the lake road below. This is close to the mountain basin of the Vallassina, and the main larger centre for services is Erba, while Bellagio is on the promontory farther south-east. The area is known for steep wooded slopes, small stone villages and the lake-and-mountain landscape typical of the Como prealps.
