The cluster is on the Tyrrhenian side of northern Calabria with the coastal ridge of the Catena Costiera immediately inland and the sea at Belvedere Marittimo close by. The Riviera dei Cedri runs along this stretch of coast and the area is known for cedar cultivation. Belvedere Marittimo has a historic upper town and a seafront lower town with everyday services; Scalea is the nearest larger coastal centre on this section of shore, and Paola farther south is the main rail stop for wider connections. The western edge of Parco Nazionale del Pollino is inland beyond the immediate coastal strip, but it lies outside the 15 km landscape around the cluster.
