The cluster is in the Sibari plain, with flat agricultural land between the Ionian coast and the first hills. The Raganello gorge and the Pollino massif lie inland to the west and northwest, and the Pollino National Park begins within this hinterland. The Ionian coast is nearby, with long low beaches around Sibari and Marina di Sibari rather than a cliff coast. Cassano all'Ionio is known for the Grotta delle Ninfe, a thermal cave complex, and for being one of the gateways from the plain toward the Pollino side of northern Calabria. The nearest larger centre in daily use is Corigliano-Rossano on the coast, with broader services and rail connections.
