Contrada Sofferetti, 50, San Demetrio Corone

The area is the lower foothills and cultivated valleys between the Sila uplands and the Ionian plain. The Crati valley system is the main landscape feature of this part of northern Calabria, with olive groves, fields and low wooded hills around the Albanian-origin villages of the zone. The nearest coast for daily life is the Ionian shore around Corigliano-Rossano and Sibari, but it is outside the immediate inland setting. Rossano and Corigliano, the nearest larger centres, provide hospitals, larger shops, rail connections and services. This part of Calabria is known for arbëreshë settlements, olive cultivation and clementines in the broader plain.
