The cluster lies in the lower hills above the Ionian coast of Calabria, with the Sila massif inland to the west and northwest. The Nicà river valley cuts through this area toward the sea. The nearest coast is the Ionian shore around Marina di Pietrapaola and nearby Cariati, with long beach stretches and low coastal land. The Sila National Park is farther inland, outside the immediate 15 km landscape. The nearest town of some size is Rossano-Corigliano to the northwest, which provides the main larger-scale services for this part of the coast. This stretch of the province is known for olive groves, hill villages and the transition from coastal plain to the first Calabrian uplands.
