Trilocale in Villapiana

The area is on the Ionian coast of Calabria at the plain and low hills around the mouth of the Crati basin, with the long beach of the Gulf of Taranto close by. The Sibari plain lies immediately inland, a broad agricultural lowland of citrus groves, olive trees and arable fields. The Pollino massif rises farther inland to the west and northwest, but it is outside the immediate landscape radius. The nearest town of size is Corigliano-Rossano, which provides major services, rail connections and a larger commercial centre for this stretch of coast. Sibari is nearby and is known for the archaeological area of ancient Sybaris and for the coastal holiday settlements of the plain. This part of the coast is known for beach tourism and intensive agriculture on the plain.
