The cluster sits in the inland valley country of northern Calabria, between the lower foothills of the Pollino massif to the north and the broader Esaro-Coscile plain. The Esaro river system shapes this area, with cultivated valley floors and low ridges around the town. Pollino National Park begins within this wider inland zone to the north, and the first mountain roads into the park and toward the Orsomarso-Pollino uplands are a short drive away, but the immediate 15 km landscape is mainly agricultural hills and valley land rather than high mountain scenery. The nearest larger centre is Castrovillari, which has the main services, shops and hospital for this part of the province. The area is known for olive groves, vineyards and mixed inland farming typical of the northern Calabrian interior.
