The cluster is on the Sila plateau and foothills east of Cosenza. The Crati valley lies below to the west, and the Sila National Park begins nearby on the plateau. The nearest ski area is Camigliatello Silano on Monte Curcio, roughly 20–30 minutes by road depending on the hamlet. Cosenza is the nearest city of size, with full services, rail connections, hospitals and a substantial historic centre. This part of the Sila is known for pine and beech forest, cool upland climate, potatoes and cured meats.
