Quadrilocale in Corigliano-Rossano

The cluster is in the coastal plain and built-up area of Corigliano-Rossano on the Ionian side of Calabria, between the lower Crati basin and the foothills of the Sila. The Sila massif rises inland within this radius, with forested uplands beginning behind the plain. The Ionian coast is a short distance away, with long low beaches rather than a cliff coast. Corigliano-Rossano is itself a sizeable town with full daily services, rail connections, hospitals and extensive modern built fabric; the historic centres of Rossano and Corigliano stand separately from the newer urban spread, and Rossano is known for the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, part of a UNESCO Memory of the World inscription. The area is known for citrus and olive cultivation on the plain. Camigliatello Silano and the main Sila ski lifts are much farther inland and do not fall inside the immediate landscape here.
