Frazione San Lauro contrada Agliuzzi, snc, Fagnano Castello

The area sits on the lower slopes between the Coastal Range of northern Calabria and the Crati valley, with wooded hills and cultivated terraces around the villages. The Esaro valley is nearby, and the Tyrrhenian coast around the Gulf of Policastro is within the local area to the west. Pollino National Park begins farther inland to the north-east, but not within the immediate 15 km landscape. The nearest larger centre is Cosenza, which provides the main rail links, hospital, university and full city services. This part of northern Calabria is known for hill villages, olive groves and citrus on the lower ground.
