Bellissima mansarda panoramica a morano

The Pollino massif rises immediately around Morano Calabro, with Monte Pollino and Serra Dolcedorme in the wider mountain group. The area lies inside Pollino National Park. The Coscile valley opens below the town and the Lao gorge system is nearby on the Tyrrhenian side of the massif. The nearest ski area is Campotenese in the Pollino, about 15 km away by road, with small local lifts when operating. Castrovillari is the nearest town of size, with hospitals, secondary schools, shops and motorway access on the A2. Morano Calabro is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. This area is known for high limestone and dolomite-like ridges, beech and pine woods, and the Pollino's endemic loricate pine.
