The cluster is in the Savuto valley on the inland side of the Catena Costiera, with the Sila mountains farther east beyond the Cosenza basin. The Savuto river valley and its tributary valleys shape the immediate landscape, with wooded slopes, olive groves and small farmed clearings. Lake Savuto lies nearby on the upper river. The nearest town of size is Cosenza, which has the provincial services, rail connections and a substantial historic centre. This part of Calabria is known for hill villages and mixed farming between the Tyrrhenian side and the inland mountains.
