Quadrilocale in Cariati

The cluster is on the Ionian coast of Calabria, with the Gulf of Taranto directly on the shoreline. Cariati has a walled historic centre on a hill just above the sea and a marina on the coast. Inland, the first rises of the Sila foothills begin within a short distance, but the high Sila plateau and its national park are farther inland and outside the immediate landscape here. The nearest larger town is Corigliano-Rossano, which provides the main rail connections, larger retail and hospital services for this stretch of coast. This part of the coast is known for beaches, citrus and olive cultivation, and small seaside settlements spread along the SS106 corridor.
