The Sila massif rises inland to the west, but it is outside the immediate 15 km landscape. The Ionian coast is nearby, with long beach stretches around Schiavonea and Rossano Scalo. Corigliano has the Ducal Castle in the historic centre, and Rossano is known for its old hilltop centre and for the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, a UNESCO Memory of the World manuscript kept in the diocesan museum.
