This is the lower Po plain between the Oglio and Po river systems, with flat farmland, drainage canals and scattered villages. The Oglio runs a few kilometres east and joins the Po south of the area. Casalmaggiore is the nearest larger centre, with a hospital, secondary schools and rail links, and Cremona is the main provincial city used for wider services. The area is known for intensive agriculture and for the Po Valley dairy and cured-meat economy.
