This is the central Po plain around Cremona, with flat agricultural land, irrigation canals and scattered farmsteads. The Po runs south of the area near Cremona, and the Adda is farther west. Cremona is the nearest town of size; it has a substantial historic centre and the cathedral complex with the Torrazzo. The area is known for intensive farming and for Cremona’s violin-making tradition.
