The Serio runs by Crema and the Adda is a few kilometres to the west, with the Parco Regionale del Serio and the Parco Adda Sud covering stretches of riverbank, woodland and farmland. Crema is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre, arcades, a cathedral and everyday services. The area is known for irrigated agriculture and dairy farming in the Lombard plain.
