The area lies on the Adda river plain, with the Adda close by and the Parco Regionale Adda Sud covering the river corridor around Rivolta d'Adda. This is low Lombard countryside of fields, irrigation channels and river woods rather than hills or mountains. Crema is the nearest medium-sized town and has a historic centre and everyday services; the outer edge of the Milan metropolitan area begins not far to the west but does not define the immediate landscape here. The area is known locally for agriculture on the irrigated plain and for the river environment of the Adda.
