Villa a schiera in Torre de' Picenardi

This is the flat lower Po plain between the Oglio and Po river systems, with arable land, drainage channels and dispersed farmsteads as the dominant landscape. The Oglio runs to the east of the area and the Po is to the south, but around Torre de' Picenardi the setting is mainly cultivated plain rather than a riverfront landscape. Casalmaggiore is the nearest town of some size, with services and a working historic centre on the Po. Cremona is the nearest provincial capital in daily reach, with a larger service base and its cathedral square. The area is known for intensive agriculture and for the wider Cremonese plain of dairy farming and cured-meat production.
