Cicognolo

This is the central Po plain between Cremona and Mantova, with flat agricultural land, drainage canals and scattered farmsteads. The Oglio river runs not far to the east, and the Po is farther south beyond Cremona. Cremona is the nearest city of size, with services, rail connections and its historic centre focused on the cathedral, Torrazzo and violin-making tradition, which is recognised by UNESCO as intangible heritage. The area is known for arable farming and the food-producing plain of the lower Lombard valley.
