This is Po plain country on the lower Oglio and Po rivers, with flat agricultural land, irrigation canals, embankments and poplar cultivation around the villages. The Po is the main landscape feature within reach, with riverbank roads, levees and patches of riparian woodland. Cremona is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre, the cathedral and Torrazzo, and the city's violin-making tradition is the best-known cultural reference for the area.
