Santa Severina stands on the inland edge of the Marchesato crotonese, with open cultivated hills and clay badlands cut by the Neto valley. The Neto river system is the main physical feature of this part of the province. The Sila plateau rises inland to the west and is visible in the wider setting, but it is outside the immediate 15 km landscape; the nearest ski lifts are on the Lorica/Camigliatello side of Sila at roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by road. Crotone is the nearest city of size, with full services, a port and rail connections.
