Scarnafigi sits on the plain between Saluzzo and Savigliano, with the Cottian Alps forming the western skyline and the Monviso group visible in clear weather. The Po plain landscape here is agricultural, with fields, irrigation channels and straight local roads. The Po rises farther west near Crissolo, but within this area the more immediate watercourses are the minor rivers and canals of the Saluzzo plain rather than a major lake or coast. Saluzzo is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre below the hill of the old town. The area is known for fruit growing and mixed agriculture on the Cuneo plain.
