Rustico in Montemale di Cuneo

The cluster sits in the lower Valle Maira at the point where the valley opens onto the Cuneo plain, with the Cottian Alps rising immediately to the west. The Maira river runs through Dronero. The valley above Dronero is the main named landscape within reach, with a sequence of alpine villages, side valleys and higher pasture and larch country as it climbs toward the upper Alps. Dronero itself has a substantial historic centre and the Ponte del Diavolo, the medieval stone bridge over the Maira. Cuneo is the nearest town of size, with full services, rail connections and a larger urban centre on the plain. The area is known for access into the Maira Valley and for the Occitan culture of the western Cuneo valleys.
