This is the flat plain between Savigliano, Saluzzo and Fossano, with the Cottian Alps forming the western horizon. The Maira and Varaita valleys begin farther west, but around the cluster the lived landscape is mainly cultivated plain crossed by local roads, irrigation channels and scattered farmsteads. Savigliano is the nearest substantial town and has a large historic centre with arcaded streets, palaces and services. Saluzzo, within daily local range, is the main historic hill town of this part of the province and is known for its preserved old centre and former marquisate role.
